Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) – Amazon Web Services Launches “Fleetwise”, an IOT Product for the Automotive Industry

Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ: AMZN), the Amazon Web Services affiliate has launched a new service for the automotive industry called Fleetwise.

What happened: At the annual re: Invent conference, AWS announced that its IoT product Fleetwise would enable automakers to collect, store and retrieve telemetry data from their vehicle fleets. TechCrunch reported.

While the concept of storing telemetry data in the cloud isn’t exactly revolutionary, AWS says it can offer its customers more flexibility through the use of filters, the publication notes. Examples could include uploading certain elements of just a car’s telemetry data to the cloud or extracting data from specific sensors if necessary.

“The possibilities offered by data collection campaigns are endless and we are pushing the boundaries in that data collection campaigns are not only time based, not just event based, but it is intelligent filtering of data across your entire fleet, ”Mike Tzamaloukas, Managing Director, AWS. says TechCrunch.

“This is where we hope to give automakers the ability to extract the terabytes of data generated by all kinds of different cars, but at a much higher signal-to-noise ratio.”

Tzamloukas confirmed to TechCrunch that the product will be available sometime in 2022 with the functionality built into cars starting in 2024.

The current Amazon stock price is trading at $ 3,507, down 1.53% on the market close day on Monday, November 30, 2021.

Price action: Amazon shares traded up 1.2% to $ 3,550 in the pre-market session on Wednesday.
