New Delhi: Amazon Web Services launched its AWS re / Start program in India on Wednesday to train people in cloud computing. AWS re / Start is a free skills development and job training program that prepares learners for careers in cloud computing. The 12-week program is offered free to learners, and prior technology experience is not required to apply.

AWS re / Start ships to 25 countries including Australia, Belgium, Canada, Costa Rica, Denmark, Egypt, Finland, France, Germany, Ghana, Kenya, Lebanon , South Africa, Tunisia, the United Kingdom and the United States.

In India, AWS re / Start will host cohorts based in six cities – Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai, Pune, and Thiruvananthapuram.

The program collaborates with five local educational organizations, including EduBridge Learning, Edujobs Academy, iPrimed Education, Rooman.Net and Vinsys IT Services, who will provide virtual training from an expert instructor.

AWS re / Start will work with these organizations to connect program graduates with potential employers.

“Industry demand for cloud adoption far exceeds the number of skilled workers available, leaving organizations struggling to find and hire the talent needed to implement cloud services.

“To overcome the lack of supply, cloud talent must be cultivated from non-traditional sources,” said Amit Mehta, AWS India Training and Certification Manager at Amazon Internet Services Pvt Ltd (AISPL).

He added that AWS re / Start brings new talent into the cloud ecosystem by training unemployed and underemployed people with little or no tech experience and preparing them to launch a career in the cloud.

He cited research from AlphaBeta (a strategy and economics consultancy) to claim that digitally skilled workers currently make up 12% of India’s workforce, and by 2025 the number of workers. in India requiring digital skills will have to be multiplied by nine.

“… Cloud architecture and design, software operations, web and mobile application development, large-scale data modeling and cybersecurity were the top five skills and among these, Cloud architecture and design will grow the fastest CAGR at around 34%. percent by 2025, ”Mehta said.

AWS re / Start is a skills-based training program that covers core AWS Cloud skills and practical job skills, such as interviewing and resume writing. Through exercises, labs, and lessons based on real-life scenarios, students learn Linux, Python, networking, security, and relational databases.

The program prepares participants for entry-level cloud roles in operations, site reliability, infrastructure support, and more.

Additionally, it prepares and covers the cost for participants to take the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification exam, so that they can validate their cloud skills with industry-recognized credentials.

IT major Capgemini is providing financial assistance to AWS re / Start and plans to interview and hire selected program graduates in various roles in the cloud. Capgemini – an AWS partner – will work closely with EduBridge Learning to facilitate this.

“At Capgemini, we are committed to shaping the talent landscape in India by providing individuals with opportunities to transition into high demand positions while building their careers. AWS re / Start aligns with this goal and reflects our commitment to helping new hires achieve the futures they want, ”said Pallavi Tyagi, HRD India at Capgemini.

Girish Singhania, CEO of EduBridge Learning, said the company was excited to engage non-technical learners through AWS re / Start, as they had never considered a career in technology.

“This program also fits well with EduBridge’s high-level goal of bridging the gap between skilled talent and organizations looking to hire,” he added.
