STRONG POINTS

Popular messaging app Telegram has launched not one but two web apps. The messaging app has always had a web app, but it wasn’t as popular as the mobile app has become over the past few months. There were major lags in the previous web app as it rarely received updates unlike mobile. However, the company has now launched two separate apps: Telegram WebK and Telegram WebZ.

The web version of Telegram lacked some basic features. Users were unable to send anything as meager as stickers on the messaging app, couldn’t make video calls. But new web apps are here to fill the void. It is still unclear why Telegram launched two separate apps instead of launching one with full functionality. At first glance, the app looks identical to each other. And of course, you can send stickers using both versions of the app.

WebK and Webz have two separate developers, but both work pretty much the same. However, you will notice minute differences in the user interface of the two apps. For example, you can mute calls in the WebK version of the app, but you can’t in the WebZ version because there’s no mute button. The search bar in WebK is white in color while Web Z has a gray search bar. There are a lot of these little differences if you dig deeper. The apps were first spotted by a website called DroidMaze, which likely led to a report from AndroidHeadlines.

However, one important feature that Telegram web apps lack is the ability to voice call. Interestingly, Telegram rival WhatsApp rolled out the feature to its web users a few months ago. Nevertheless, Telegram might release an update soon, but until then, you can check out the revamped web apps on the official Telegram website. You will find the links to all versions of Telegram including desktop apps, web apps, mobile apps and more.

Earlier, a report from TestingCatalog said that Telegram was testing the ability to schedule voice chats in channels. As of now, the feature is available in the beta version, but the company may soon release the feature with the Telegram v7.7.0 update.
